This Colorado image was taken in the Rocky Mountains about 16 miles outside of Lake City. Standing on the summit of Red Cloud Peak, at 14,034 feet, you can see the summit of Sunshine Peak just 1.5 miles away standing at 14,001 feet. It is an easy walk over, but you have to leave early enough to avoid the afternoon storms. My hiking buddy and I left camp at 4:30am. We were the first ones up and the first ones down. As we walked into camp nearly 8 hours later, the lightening, rains and hail came. Unfortunately, there were more than several groups still up on the slopes.
