Texas Hill Country Landscapes - Enchanted Rock September Sunrise

Mornings in the Texas Hill Country can be magical. One of my favorite places to enjoy the Texas landscape at sunrise in Enchanted Rock State Park just outside Fredericksburg. From my driveway to the parking lot, it takes me about 1 hour and 16 minutes - longer on the way home because more folks are out and about. In the hour before daylight, my main concern driving are the numerous deer that are out and about.<br />

This image from Enchanted Rock comes from the "back side" of the exposed granite outcrop - from Moss Lake. My recent visit revealed that this little lake was lower than usual and had a lot of the mud bank exposed. But sunrise from this location is still something to enjoy. About 730am near the end of September, the sun peeks over the northeast side of the rock and fills the land with warmth. After taking a few photographs that I hope will make good prints, I enjoy my walk back through Echo Canyon. I always wish I could stay longer.
