Austin Images - The Austin Skyline before Sunrise from 45 Stories

One of my favorite times of day is the 30 minutes before sunrise. This is often called the "blue hour." On long exposures, when you are shooting towards the east, the camera will pick up the faint glow of the impending sunrise.<br />

That was the case in this image from Austin. The horizon beyond the Austin skyline is beginning to glow orange and the city lights are still lit from the evening. <br />

I had requested access to shoot this particular morning because the sun would be rising directly down 5st Street between the Frost Bank Tower and the 360 Condos. However, I arrived early and captured a few Austin images well before sunrise. One treat this morning was the sliver of a crescent moon rising above the Frost Tower. I believe it was only at 3% showing, but at this hour a faint outline of the entire moon can be seen as it rises in the east.
