Milky way over the Maroon Bells

I went to Maroon Lake this night in order to figure out exactly where I wanted to shoot this image from Colorado. I knew the Milky Way would be moving across the bells early in the morning. I set the focal length, taped it down so it would not change, then tried to sleep for a while. I returned about 3am. This shot was taken about 3:45am as the Milky Way settled over the Maroon Bells. It is a two shot merge - one very long exposure to show the mountains lit by some moonlight, and a shorter exposure to capture the Milky Way. Maroon Lake was like glass - not even a bit of wind. It was really an amazing night, and I'm fortunate to capture this image of a Colorado icon.
