At the end of the road that leads to American Basin, I found one of hte most beautiful places to photograph Colorado wildflowers that I've seen in a while. Four miles past the Silver Creek trailhead, along a pretty bumpy and rough 4WD road, you come to this point.<br />

I'd been here years earlier when I hiked up one of Colorado's 14ers, Handies Peak, and knew I'd like to return for plentiful columbine that fill this basin each July. For me, it is hard to beat a landscape that offers both the Rocky Mountains and colorful wildflowers. This was a good trip.
