Nearly Night - Bluebonnets along a Dirt Road near San Saba

The clouds once lit in pastel pink and blue had begun to fade to night, but the Texas bluebonnets were motionless and the smell of pollen lingered in the air along this lonely dirt road. No one seemed to know about this place except some local cows and me, and I didn't mind. In my years of photographing wildflowers, this was one of my most memorable. This was the last picture of the evening before packing up and returning the two hours to my hill country home.
