When I departed my home in the Hill Country close to Austin, I left under the threat of thunderstorms. I drove two hours in search of the holy grail of Texas wildflowers, bluebonnet fields. And I found my treasure. As I drove down several dirt roads near San Saba, I enjoyed skies that were clearing from storms, and in their wake was a stillness and quiet of soft red and pink pastels. Beneath this dreamy sea stretched a sea of blue all the way to the treeline.<br />

I know evenings like this are a gift, and most certainly will not last. However, with my camera, I tried to capture in photographs the beauty I not only saw that night, but also felt. It has stayed with me in later years, and the hope of another magical Texas landscape such as this keeps me driving more miles each spring.
