The alarm went off at 3:30am. I rolled out of bed and drove over to one of my favorite not-so-well known locations to shoot images of Colorado Wildflowers - one that offers a great landscape in the background - Butler Gulch. <br />

Butler Gulch is about a 2.3 mile hike, gaining nearly 1000 vertical feet in the process. The payoff is often fields of wildflowers such as paintbrush, daisies, and pink elephants, in a meadown surrounding by mountains on all sides. On the Rocky slopes there are colorful columbine. A few stream crossings can be a bit sketchy in the dark (it is usually dark when I am hiking up). But if you go slow and take your time, no worries.
