At nearly 38 feet tall, this dead cedar elm tree has been placed in Ladybird Lake as a reminder of the dead trees Texas has suffered during this prolonged drought. Created by the Women and their Work gallery, this display runs through December of 2013 and is meant to bring to Austin's attention our most precious and valuable natural resource - water. Along with the dead cedar elm that has been painted a ghostly white color, 14,000 Tibetan style flags are hanging around 2.5 miles of the Ladybird Lake hike and bike trail.
The project, called "Thirst" sits between the Pedestrian Bridge and the Lamar Bridge that span Town Lake.
